The R&D Director – HMI Solutions is a Global Leadership senior management team member responsible for the imagination and proof of concept creation for our future pipeline of HMI technologies. The role is highly technical but requires a commercial mindset as well as the ability to engage widely with customers, partners, and colleagues, in order to gather and evaluate ideas successfully.
You will work to lead a team of R&D engineers, in the domains of display components, computing hardware, firmware and software, located in our two locations in the UK, in Slovenia, and in Taiwan. The role sets out the R&D roadmap and then oversees the proving of concepts, which when tested, are handed over to the product engineering teams to bring to mass market.
Developing and Owning our R&D Roadmap – With your imagination, access to our global network of customers and colleagues and wide array of technology partnership you will be responsible for developing and securing support for the projects that comprise the R&D roadmap. The R&D roadmap is a set of technologies that we want to develop as part of our portfolio of Intellectual Property within Densitron. These technologies are developed rapidly through our R&D engineering team to proof-of-concept stage to allow us to test the commercial proposition before taking the decision to move to mass market.
Leading the in-house R&D Engineering Team – Delivering the roadmap through a team of diverse engineers from an array of disciplines, bringing this team together around a clear mission and set of common goals while developing each engineer’s skill and capability.
Developing and managing technology partnerships and 3rd party engineers – Choosing ‘make vs. buy vs. partner’ to deliver on our roadmap engineering workstreams, developing and managing the relationships which bring this to life.
Supporting the transition to mass market – Developing the application to support the business case for mass market production, then once agreed working to transition R&D projects over to the relevant Production Engineering teams.
Project and cost management – Overall responsibility for the project management of the R&D projects and associated budgets.
